Family Mediation Bureau Workshops and Courses 2025 – Various Dates
Study with a Sandwich. These short, interactive sessions are designed to fit in with a lunch break (1pm-2ishpm) and will be delivered via Zoom. They are priced at £30 (£15 for non-earners):
In this course you can find out what a MIAM is for, how it works and what a participant can expect. You will also find out what happens after a MIAM has taken place.
G02: Mediation and Court Forms on 30 September 2025
In this course you can find out which Court Application Forms need to be signed by a Mediator and how and when they can be signed.
G03: An Introduction to Child-Inclusive Mediation on 9 October 2025
In this course, you can find out about what Child-inclusive mediation is and how it works, as well as how it can help the families you work with. You can also find out when it’s not appropriate.
G04: When the Child says No on 17 July and 16 October 2025
In the course you can find out how to approach those difficult cases where an older child is seeming to refuse spending time with one of their parents. It explores the myriad of reasons why this might happen and how the situation could be approached in mediation to try and find a way forward.
G05: Grandparents in Mediation on 28 October 2025
In this course we will discuss situations where Grandparents need help with arrangements for their grandchildren. We will examine at what the Law says and how the Courts tend to deal with these issues and then look at how mediation might help.
G06: Mediation and Domestic Abuse on 4 November 2025
In this course, we will look at the different types of Domestic abuse and how to ask the right questions when talking to a client to get all of the information you need to make an assessment. We will then look at if and how mediation could proceed within a domestic abuse context in a safe way and what are the alternatives open to clients where mediation can’t safely proceed.
M07: Financial Disclosure in Mediation on 1 July and 11 November 2025
In this course, you can find out what Financial Disclosure is and when it is needed. You can explore how to introduce the topic to clients and the various stages to the process in mediation. We will look at how to approach exchanging documentary evidence, how to draft an Open Financial Statement and how to deal with tricky issues around disclosure confidently.
M08: Mediation and the Family Business on 24 July and 20 November 2025
In this course we will discuss why businesses form part of financial settlement and the different types of business you might encounter. We will tackle the thorny issue of how a business might be valued and how to approach it of parties are not on the same page with a valuation. Finally, we will look at the different outcome options you might explore with clients. This course will be delivered on Zoom and will last about an hour and a half including time for questions.

Legal Aid for Mediators (9.45am to 2.30pm) Cost £80. 3 June
In this course you can find out who might be eligible for legal aid, how to carry out a legal aid assessment and how to draft documents and close cases to ensure compliance with the requirements of the legal aid contract. This course will be delivered via Zoom on 25th March and in person in our offices in Bromley on 3rd June.
