Power Imbalance and Impartiality

Aim: to provide an understanding of the elements of Power and Power Imbalance in family mediation and an awareness of challenges to the Impartiality of the mediator.

Date & Time: Thursday 23rd March, 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

Objectives: by the end of the CPD the participants will be aware of:

• the types of power imbalance we may encounter in family mediation and the fluid nature of power imbalance;
• the methods and skills that can be used to manage power imbalances;
• challenges to the mediator’s impartiality and the importance of remaining self-aware.
